Well, it has been an adventure packed summer already. We have managed to cruise the lakes quite well this year, trolling for that trophy trout that is out there, (using small children for bait of course).
We were able to acquire a small motor boat for Clay's birthday, nothing fancy, just something to ski behind. Clay wanted to relive his childhood or something. Clay has found it much harder to ski now than he did when he was a teenager, (maybe the extra 50 - 60 pounds has something to do with it. We have also been taking turns being dragged across the lake on a glorified inner tube called a Warp Factor. Children skip really good on water, especially when they wear a ski vest. You know what they say about boats, they are a big hole in the water that men pour money into. It's not quite that bad, Well.....
Meanwhile back on the ranch, I have been busy readying my flower and culinary talents for the county fair in September. The garden is growing like a weed, and the weeds are doing well too. We have harvested 20 pounds of green beans so far, along with sweet peas, radishes, lettuce, onions, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, turnips, and spinich. Still have lots more coming, including corn, water melon, pumpkins, squash, cantelope, and potatoes. The weeds are fighting a good fight, and I have to enter the trenches each day....No prisoners....No Mercy !
The girls are all doing great. Kaitlyn is still a petite little girl, feeling neglected because she is the youngest and smallest. Nicole is turning out to be a good cook and does well with out much supervision, just need to work on the clean up afterwards. Jennifer is my champion harvester, whether it be Huckleberries, Raspberries, Chokecherries or Blackberries. She is even going to try her hand at making jelly this year.
We hope that your summer has been just as much fun as ours......
